THE CRITIQUE

She’s a young girl who likes to do rough, tough, boy stuff. And so she wants to be a boy. Being on the boy's baseball team… that would make all of her dreams come true. That dream is met with opposition from the school coaches, but Mom steps in and makes it happen. She’s on the field. It’s finally happening. Until everyone sees her underwear through the baseball pants and makes fun of her. Mom again stands up for her against the crowd, and the coach welcomes her back for the next game.
The animation style is entertaining, one scene flowing seamlessly into the next. It’s visually cute, but I found the story to be annoying and praising a massive problem in our world that spreading like wildfire.
Nevertheless, this is someone’s story. I cannot deny that. It takes great courage to stand in front of the world and tell them your story. Millions of young girls identify with this experience, and I hope someone in each of their lives is wise enough to look them in the eye and tell them that it is perfectly fine for them to enjoy rough, tough, “boy” stuff as a young girl.
